Oprah-Quest 2012 – Ad #2
May 1, 2012 § 10 Comments
A few days after the first ad appeared in Oprah’s hometown paper, the Montecito Journal, the Phoenix and I hiked up the ¼ mile secret trail, following the secret map, and found the secret burial site containing Oprah’s book sadly undisturbed, although some low-tide organism had stolen her shovel.
It was sad, like leaving a carrot out for a magic unicorn and finding a squirrel scratching his testicles with it. Not exactly like that, but you get the idea.
But I am no one to wallow in self-pity. So the next week, with the help of the Phoenix and my fearless art director, Kelly Beck-Byrnes, we took out another ad, this one featuring a new copy of Blue Asylum inside a locked safe with everyone but Oprah on their honor not to memorize the combination.
The Phoenix carried the safe out to its location and set up Oprah’s sign. Within 48 hours the safe, the book and the sign had all disappeared.*
So it’s time for my third and final ad. I will keep you posted, friends. Thank you for your suggestions. And as an aside, it was great seeing so many of you at the book parties and readings.
And now, I must dive back into that O-shaped quest which has consumed my waking hours. I will be back with a new report.
*My chief suspect: Rich Siegel http://tinyurl.com/7dvg2cl I just don’t like the looks of that guy.
